This be true. I'd add that this doesn't just apply to individuals, it's very easy for a whole team to fall into this trap, because none of them have the minerals to speak up and spit it like it is.

To paraphrase the LoG - It's like standing up at a wedding when they say 'Does anybody know of any reason...', nobody likes doing it!

In writing any software, it is possible for developers to be too close to a project to see its flaws. I was very proud of the first website i ever made, way back in 2006, and could not spot a single flaw with it. Now that I am a bit more learned on such matters, I am almost ashamed to show it to people :D

In applying this to videogames, I suppose you just need to look at the number of bitter and twisted responses that developers give to negative criticism. "People didn't get what we were trying to achieve" and such. Sometimes they're right, but sometimes it's just an inability to accept that they dropped the ball. In my experience, games developers are very protective and proud of their projects, which on the one hand means that they'll bake a little passion into every project, but on the downside does hinder the application of constructive criticism :S
