Better Know A Denkian #1: David

Inside Denki | 1 crisp comment

Denki is a fairly friendly, social and outgoing company.  We’ve met a lot of you over the past few months, at events like ProtoPlay, the Denki Documentary and our occasional trip to the cinema.

However, we think we can do better.  We can step out of the shadows and into the full glare of the public, if only to familiarise you with the team a little more. So, for your pleasure and delight, we’d like to present the first of an ongoing series, which we’re calling Better Know A Denkian.  This will be your chance to meet the people behind lightbulb and find out what sort of closet rock and roll stars Denki has stuffed its classy downtown HQ with.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the man behind the fact Denki talks a lot more than it used to – David ‘Dave’ Thomson…

Der Thinkerator

Name (including aliases or handles): David ‘@dwlt‘ Thomson

What do you do at Denki: I’m the self-proclaimed #1 Fan, but hopefully not in a creepy way. Basically, I look after Denki’s communications plans (e.g., this website) and also spend a bit of time on the company culture side of things. You can also blame me for the Denki Documentary. And I do other stuff too.

What did you do before you joined Denki: Previous job titles are ‘VP of Everything Else’, ‘Paper Boy’, ‘CEO & Head Chef’, ‘Software Engineer’ and ‘Guy-who-knows-where-everything-in-the-stockroom-is’.

I like… bourbon biscuits.

Turn-offs: People who complain about how bored they are. Go do something! Go make something!

Favourite quote, motto or aphorism: ‘If everyone thought this way, I’d be a damn fool to think any other’ (paraphrasing Catch-22 by Joseph Heller).

More from this irregular series soon…

Wouldnt a nice open day be much more fun? Say, like, in a pub? I find meeting new people as inspiring as art…or toys…or…jelly!
