Global Game Jam (Scotland)

General | 1 mysterious comment

Friday, January 29 (that’s this month, calendar fans) sees the return of the Global Game Jam – a 48 hour competition in which teams must design and complete a working videogame.

In 2009 the competition saw teams competing over 50 different cities around the world.  The 2010 Game Jam already has 123 different locations and it’s still growing.

In Scotland, the Game Jam is returning to Glasgow Caledonian University.

Denki’s participating – providing judges for the Scottish component and generally cheering on the idea of games creation.

We’ve mentioned the idea of getting your hands dirty several times on the blog.  If you’re interested in getting into game development, nothing helps your CV like having completed an actual game you can let people play.

The competition is open to everyone with an interest in games.  There are sessions before the actual competition to help individuals organise themselves into teams, so even if you’re not the most technical person on the planet, there’s still a chance you can participate.

It’s 48 hours, so it will be hectic, frantic and frenzied, but it should be fun at the same time.

You can find more information about the Global Game Jam here.  The Scottish Game Jam website is here.
