Dare to be Digital 2010: Fortune Awaits

Things We Like | No comments

It really is that time again.  Dare to be Digital, the world’s biggest, bestest and most fascinating game design competition is open for entries and looks likely to be eclipse 2009 in terms of number of teams, games and general all-round creative wonderfulness.

If you’ve read the Denki blog at all, the chances are you’ll have come across Dare to be Digital before.  It’s a competition which challenges teams of students to create original new game concepts.  Those concepts are judged by a panel of industry experts and the winning entries then have just ten weeks over the summer holidays, to create a working prototype of the game and then demonstrate it in public over the course of three days during the Edinburgh festival.

It’s intense, challenging and about as close as it’s possible to get to the reality of working within the games industry.  A lot of the people – in fact most of the people coming out of Dare are picking up jobs with game developers and the games themselves are attracting interest from publishers.

This year’s competition is now officially OPEN.  If you’re a student at a university or art school and have a good idea for a game, or any ambition at all within the interactive world, then this is your big chance.
