Dave’s post on the Instructoart book (and more to the point, nicking the book from his desk) reminded me why it is that people say pictures are worth a thousand words. One of the more awesome things about the Internet – outwith the easy acquisition of sparkly kitten graphics – is the ability to find people who can summarise very complex ideas in clear, easily understood ways.
Here are a few favourites:
- Just how deep is the Mariana Trench?
- How high is the observable universe?
- What’s the difference between the political Left and Right?
- How can the gravity wells of all the planets in the solar system be visualised?
The truth is out there and it’s usually in pictorial form.

I really enjoyed the one that illustrated the different political views on Left and Right. Actually, it came right on the money to settle a little quibble that me and some friends were having here – and I was correct -, so, thanks!
PS:
By the way, loved the fishie on the Mariana Trench…
They can also be interactive…
Check out this astonishign example…

That interactive flash thing is great. I think I just learned more about the tiny things around me in about a minute…thats the cool thing about interactive stuff
