Last year Denki ran a series of documentary films at the astonishingly wonderful Dundee Contemporary Arts centre (@DCADundee)

The first of these was King Of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (you should watch it, it’s awesome), which outlined the competition to become the highest-scoring Donkey Kong player in the while wide world.

Plucky underdog, Steve Wiebe took on the magnificently-bearded Billy Mitchell for the crown.

It’s not spoiling the film to say that the ending of the movie showed the title moving back and forth between the two men.

However, both Steve and Billy now have to stand aside (for the time being anyway) and pay respects to Hank Chien, a New York plastic surgeon who has had his world-beating score of 1,061,700 verified by the people at Twin Galaxies, who are the official score-keeping types for this sort of thing.

From what we know of Steve and Billy (from watching the movie in other words), we doubt that they’ll allow this state of affairs to last long.

In other words, as kids today would say, It’s ON.

Better yet – it’s ON film.  Yes, a sequel of some description is in the works (according to Wikipedia).
