Prepare Yourself

Over the last few months, I’ve been doing some research into how to be a better Quarrel player. First up: have an extensive and accessible vocabulary.

Memory building techniques are ten-a-penny of course, but here’s a reading list I put together to help you out (beyond just re:

  • Foyle’s Philavery
  • The Essential Scots Dictionary – there are quite a few Scots words in the Quarrel dictionary.
  • Yiddish
  • A dictionary. No kidding. We recommend Collins Official Scrabble Dictionary, of course, since that’s what’s actually in the game.

Some good news amongst all of this is that you only need to learn words with 8 letters or less. Result!

Of course, you still need to be able to put the word together quickly enough, but that’s a skill I’m not even close to perfecting. Damn my clumsy hands.
